The Challenge

The fly ash contained arsenic. After chlorination, arsenic and germanium enter the chloride system, so the purification duty needs a dedicated de-arsenic rectification section. AsCl3 and FeCl3 are separated from the germanium-bearing stream.

At 10 t/d fly ash, the equipment scope needed to address arsenic separation together with germanium recovery. Containment of the arsenic-bearing material and the chloride-separation duty needed to be considered together within the dedicated purification section.

Process Route

The line combines the following unit operations:

Chlorination and separation — rectification — de-arsenic rectification — hydrolysis — vacuum drying

The de-arsenic section follows rectification and precedes hydrolysis. A chlorination reactor serves the chlorination duty. The separate de-arsenic rectification stage distinguishes this scope from the arsenic-free reference.

Scope of Supply

The delivered scope comprises line equipment and PLC electrical control, covering the process sections identified above. The equipment agreement defines the supplied items and the connections to site services.

Installation and commissioning are covered by a separate service contract after the order.

Equipment and Materials

The equipment schedule below identifies the supplied equipment and quantities. Materials of construction are selected for the material processed. The schedule should be read together with the agreed scope of supply, rather than as a universal configuration for another feed.

Results

10t/d fly ash

The line was delivered for 10 t/d of arsenic-bearing fly ash. The product is germanium product from arsenic-bearing fly ash, with AsCl3 / FeCl3 separated. The scope includes PLC electrical control and the dedicated de-arsenic rectification section.

The feed duty and chloride-separation requirement define this reference. A new project needs its own material analysis and product specification before the equipment scope can be matched.

FAQ

Why does an arsenic-bearing feed need a separate rectification step?

Arsenic enters the chloride system with germanium after chlorination. This line includes dedicated de-arsenic rectification after rectification and before hydrolysis.

Which by-product chlorides are separated on this line?

The delivered reference identifies AsCl3 and FeCl3 as separated chlorides.

How does this line differ from an arsenic-free fly ash line?

This 10 t/d arsenic-bearing fly-ash line adds a dedicated de-arsenic rectification section. The arsenic-free reference has a separate feed duty and does not require that section.
