Custom Metal Recovery Process for Your Rare or Critical Metal Feed

A metal recovery process for a new feed begins with the material you have and the product you want. We review the feed information with you, define the relevant equipment duties and, where required, build a custom low-capacity unit for your process. Send the feed details to start that discussion.

Have a Feed We Haven't Listed?

The starting material may be a residue, ash or concentrate containing a rare or critical metal. A material that is not listed on this site can still be presented for a process and equipment discussion. Begin with the known feed information rather than the name of an assumed standard plant.

We consider the proposed duty from the process and equipment perspective. Identify the target metal, its known grade, the main impurities and the intended product. Explain where the material comes from and the quantity to be processed.

The resulting scope is specific to that discussion. A reference for one material does not establish a delivered project for another metal. For independent background on the wider material category, consult the European Commission’s critical raw materials overview.

How We Evaluate a New Metal Recovery Process

01

Step 1: Feed Analysis Review

Provide the feed analysis you have. We review that information with you to understand the target metal, impurities and processing requirement. Identify which values are known and which remain unknown so that the equipment discussion has a clear starting point.

This stage uses the analysis supplied by the customer. It is not an offer to collect samples for testing or to arrange analytical services. The information review and an equipment proposal have different purposes.

02

Step 2: A Custom Lab Unit Built for Your Process

Where a defined low-capacity unit is required, it is built around the customer’s process. The customer operates that equipment at their own site. The pilot plant equipment capability covers this equipment supply.

Define what the unit must do and where it will connect to the customer’s operation. The unit is not a generic testing service or access to a company trial centre. Its configuration is part of the particular equipment scope.

03

Step 3: Route and Equipment Proposal

The proposal identifies a combination of unit operations, an equipment list and a supply boundary. It should distinguish the items being supplied from the work, services and connections needed at the installation site.

For turnkey installations, make that boundary explicit. Scope of supply: civil works, utilities and local permits are by the client. Installation and commissioning are covered by a separate service contract after the order.

Unit Operations We Can Combine

The selected route is assembled around the duty. The relevant hydrometallurgy equipment categories include leaching, solvent extraction, chlorination and rectification, hydrolysis, rotary calcination, drying under inert gas and acid recovery.

Describe the section you want to purchase as well as the operations that will remain elsewhere in the plant. A defined section can be discussed on its own; a full-line proposal needs the wider feed, product and connection requirements.

Materials of construction are selected for the material processed. The combination of operations and the construction choice belong to the feed-specific proposal. A conceptual equipment image is only a visual reference for the equipment category.

What to Send Us

A concise feed description helps the first discussion focus on the right questions. Send the information already available, identify missing values and explain the product you intend to make. Avoid combining the quantity of valuable metal with the total incoming material mass.

Material and metal

Feed source and type; target metal; known grade or available analysis.

Quantity and impurities

Processing quantity with its batch or daily basis; the main known impurities and any relevant variation in the feed.

Project context

Country of installation; intended product; existing equipment and which section you want supplied.

If the project is an addition to an existing plant, describe the retained sections and the connections to be considered. If it begins with a custom unit, identify that as the initial scope rather than treating the complete line as already defined.

FAQ

Do you work with metals not listed on this site?

You can send a description and the available analysis for another rare or critical metal feed. The next step is a feed-specific process and equipment discussion. The site does not claim delivered lines for every metal.

Do you run tests on our samples?

We do not provide sample-testing or analytical services. We can build a low-capacity experimental unit for the customer’s process, for the customer to operate at their own site. The initial review uses the feed data supplied by the customer.

How long does a lab unit take to build?

The equipment arrangement and scope need to be defined before a project schedule can be discussed. No standard build time is stated here. Include the duty and required interfaces when requesting a proposal.

Can the lab unit design be scaled to a full line?

A larger line requires an engineering review of the feed, product, operation set and supply boundary. The custom unit can form part of that development discussion, while the full-scale equipment package is specified separately.
